-Description

Audemars Piguet (AP) was founded by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edouard-Auguste Piguet in Le Brassus in the Joux Valley.

Since its founding in 1875, it is the oldest watch brand that has been consistently managed by the founding family.

This watch Ref.5369 is a hand-wound dress watch produced around 1968.

The case is a tonneau-shaped. The size is 33.5mm wide and 40mm long including the lugs, which is a good size for men and women.

It might look like an Omega C-case, and you're right, this watch was designed by Gerald Genta.

The biggest feature is the use of stainless steel, which is rare for AP watches of this age.

Also, the construction of the case is very unusual. A jointed crown is used, and the case back is fixed to the middle case with screws and further fixed with a metal ring to improve water resistance and airtightness.

This idea solved the problem of creating a water-resistant watch without a screw back and while maintaining its thinness.

This innovative case design was later adopted by Genta for the Nautilus and Royal Oak as well.

The dial is a silver dial with a sunray finish. The bar index has a large area of black and is twice as thick in multiples of 3.

The rounded AUDEMARS PIGUET notation is a unique vintage feature.

There is some damage on the edges of the dial above 12 o'clock and on the side of 9 o'clock.

The movement is equipped with a hand-wound Cal.2002/1A.

This movement was produced in very small numbers, with only 200 pieces produced, including those used for other references.

This is a stainless steel AP watch from the late 60s and 70s, with a tonneau case, thin profile, Genta design and a lot of charm.
