-Description

The Tank watch was born when Louis Cartier, the third generation of the Cartier family, designed the Tank in 1917 and released the first model in 1919.

The original design of the Tank is said to have been based on a plan of the Renault FT-17 tank that appeared during World War I, which is also the origin of the name ”Tank".

The Art Deco design of this watch has created many enthusiasts, who are known as Tankists. Muhammad Ali, Princess Diana, and Yves Saint Laurent are known as Tankists.

Among them, Andy Warhol used to wear a hand-wound model without even winding the mainspring, and this story tells us that the appeal of the Tank lies in its style.

The Tank Louis Cartier (Tank LC) was born in 1922 and, as its name suggests, was a favorite model of Louis Cartier himself. This is the original Tank and is generally manufactured with an 18K gold case.

This Ref. 81900/W1500951 is a Tank LC Moonphase equipped with an old quartz movement manufactured in the 1980s.

The case is made of 18K yellow gold. It is mens size with a width of 23.5mm and a length of 30.5mm. These days, this size suits both genders.

The dial is the original Roman dial, which was originally white but has changed to a light ivory color over time.

The Roman numeral index, which is synonymous with the Tank, is retained, while the pointer-type date display and moonphase are arranged in a well balanced. The mysterious beauty and splendor of the changing phases of the moon are attractive in this design.

The movement is a quartz Cal.19. It has the advantage that it does not require winding, making it easy to use on a daily basis. Basically, it only requires a battery change, so there is no need to worry about the high maintenance costs of a complicated mechanism.

Comes with a genuine 18K gold Deployant buckle made from the same material as the case.

The watch has been fully serviced at Cartier in 2025. The watch is covered by a 2-year warranty.

There are very few men's size Tank LC with moonphase, and the fact that it has been most recently serviced by the manufacturer is very reassuring.
