-Description

Patek Philippe is a watchmaker founded in Geneva in 1839. The company makes watches without any compromise by utilizing its unparalleled quality and technical expertise.

Along with Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, it is known as the Big Three, one of the world's three major brands, and it is no exaggeration to say that it has established a special position among them.

In addition to continuing to be one of the world's finest manufactures, the extremely small number of watches produced makes this brand synonymous with luxury watches. The independence of being a family-run business and the reliability of knowing that all watches can be repaired create value as an asset that can be passed down through generations.

This watch is Golden Ellipse Ref. 3598, manufactured in the 1970s. The main feature of this watch is its oval-shaped case, which has an even more pronounced oval shape than the regular Golden Ellipse.

The Golden Ellipse, which was first released in 1968, had a design that was completely different from the round and rectangular cases that had been available up until that point, and it made a big impact.

The ellipse, which is a fusion of a circle and a rectangle, and the aspect ratio of the case (1:1.6181) are the "golden ratio" said to have been discovered by a Greek mathematician, and these form the basis of the name.

The case material is 18k yellow gold. It is 23 mm width and 35 mm height. The oval shape of the bezel, which is thicker on both sides, gives the impression that it is not as large as the numbers.

The dial is a blue color with sunburst finish. This is a standard dial in Golden Ellipse. The dial of this piece has aged slightly purple.

The hands and indexes are a combination of alpha hands and bar indexes.

Additionally, there is a σ (sigma) mark on either side of SWISS at the 6 o'clock position on the dial.

This is a mark found on watches made by manufacturers belonging to the APRIOR organization from around 1973 to around 2000, and indicates the use of precious metals for the dial and indexes.

The purpose of this symbol is to "indicate that the watch is a high-quality Swiss-made watch made of gold. It is found on watches made by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, IWC, and Omega, but not all watches from the same period have it.

For this reason, sigma dials are regarded as a rarity among collectors.

The movement is the hand-wound Cal. 16-250, a small caliber measuring 16.3 mm in diameter and 2.5 mm in thickness, which was mainly used in ladies' watches.

The movement was also used in the ladies' Calatrava and Twenty-4 hand-wound models in the 2000s.

It comes with an Extract from the Archives acquired in 2004 and original yellow gold buckle. We have not polish the case.

The pins that fasten the case to the leather strap are aftermarket parts. Please note that it looks like a lug when viewed from above, but it is a decorative parts.
