-Description

Patek Philippe is a watchmaker founded in Geneva in 1839.
The company makes watches without any compromise by utilizing its overwhelming quality and technical capabilities.

The independence of the family business and the reliability that all watches can be repaired create a value as an asset that can be passed down from generation to generation.

This watch is a Golden Ellipse reference 3848 produced in the 1970s. First introduced in 1968, the Golden Ellipse had a big impact with its design, which was different from previous round and rectangle cases.

The ellipse, a fusion of a circle and a rectangle, and the case's aspect ratio (1:1.6181) are said to be the "golden ratio" discovered by a Greek mathematician, and are the basis for the name of the watch.

The case is made of 18K yellow gold and is 27mm wide and 32mm high, but because it is oval shaped, it doesn't look as big as the numbers suggest, giving the impression of being on the small side.

The dial is a matte white with black Roman numerals and leaf hands. It's completely different from the standard blue dial with sun-ray finish of the same watch, giving it a stylish look.

The Golden Ellipse comes in two versions, one with a leather strap and the other with an integrated bracelet. This watch comes with a leather strap and a genuine yellow gold buckle with PP sign.

The installed movement is the manual-wind Cal.215, a small movement measuring 10 Ligne (approx. 22.5 mm) in size, which was introduced around 1978 as the successor to the Cal. 23-300.

It is a very classic thin manual-wind movement, but it has modern performance and is still used in current models such as Ref. 5196 after more than 40 years.
