-Description

The Day-Date is Rolex's ultimate status watch.

Introduced in 1956, the Day-Date was the world's first waterproof, automatic chronometer wristwatch to display the date and the day of the week in full on the dial.

The case is made of only 18K gold or platinum. It is the only watch with a day of the week display and is limited in materials, which has established it as the finest Rolex watch.

The Day-Date is also known as the "President's Watch." The name originated from when it was presented to the 34th President of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower, and the name became established as it was worn by successive presidents thereafter.

The bracelet, which is made of gold like the case, is known as the "President Bracelet" and has a strong image of being a "first-class watch worn by successful people and leaders."

The Ref. 1803 is a vintage model produced from the 1960s to the late 1970s. This watch was manufactured around 1959,early Day-Date model of this generation.

The case is made of 18K yellow gold. It has a very calm color, so it doesn't stand out too much despite being a gold watch.

The dial is a champagne dial that has aged nicely. If you look closely, you can see that it is not a sunburst finish, but a concentric finish.

The hands are alpha hands, which are only seen on early Day-Date. The indexes are rare bullet-shaped indexes.Tritium luminous paint is only applied to the hands, and it has aged nicely.

The movement is the automatic Cal.1555. This is the same movement that was used in the early Day-Date models, including the Ref. 1803. Since it does not have a quick-change mechanism, the day and date are adjusted by moving the hour hand back and forth.

Vintage Day-Date watches come in a huge variety of combinations of dials, hands, and indexes.

There are only a few pieces with a strong vintage feel from the 1950s, and among them, these stand out for their excellent condition.
